Quick Summary:

Edakkal hermitage has been conceived and is managed by the Wayanad based firm, Contour Dakshin, which essentially deals with architectural and tourism projects in South India.

The firm comprises of members with architectural and tourism planning backgrounds who are committed to implement a developmental strategy that is sustainable in essence.

We also seek to promote and educate tourists on the importance of the historic heritage that the edakkal caves have to offer and elevate it to a respectful position within the domains of the international tourist community.

Construction materials have been locally sourced as far as possible and the design approach adheres to the vernacular. The establishment of this resort has been largely beneficial to the local populace in terms of job opportunities and other facilities like electricity and telephone lines that were brought about.

A large number of trees have also been planted as part of the resort development process on the relatively barren hills that we inherited.
